Yes, one of the stupid thing I did was replace the garage door after it collapsed. I tried to find someone to rebuild it but couldn’t so ended up giving in to the overhead door sales people. I didn’t make them save the metal windows. Now I wish I could somehow get the original doors replicated.
you can – there are places that make repro garage doors.
I want to have interior shutters made with glass lights, basically in swinging casement windows, though ideally with joints so they will fold up like regular interior shutters. I’ve seen them (without the extra joints) in Europe. Do you have any information which would help me?
can anyone answer this?
Does anyone know someone in eastern Tennessee area who repairs old windows? I have a few that won’t close all the way and if love to save them rather than replace.
I hope you checked my listing before posting this question. If anyone has recommendations for restoration people, please let me know.
Having a nightmare with window dealers. We have old single hung, single pane window sashes that need replaced. The glass is foggy, and wavy and wood wasn’t taken care of before us. We are trying to find wood, double hung, double pane window sash replacements. The home is not historical, 1970’s ranch. Dealers are telling us we need the entire window replacement, frame and all. We don’t want that look. We used to use Vetter sash replacements which were universal and finished beautifully. Not in business any longer. Besides, don’t want to make our windows any smaller. Dealers are saying the sash replacements are not universal, their reasoning to sell us those awful replacement windows. Is this correct? We can’t order custom sash replacements for our existing windows, regardless of who manufactured the old windows? Help!
