Snow on a house or anywhere transforms even a unappealing scene into something magical.

Enjoy the snow and wake up early to take a walk and take some photos before the
plows come and muddy the streets and before you need to start shoveling.

Don’t wait too long though for this snow is not good to sit on your porch.

When it rains, the water runs off and away. With snow the wood is almost like being
submerged.

The top layer of the snow will begin to melt and seep down to the wood it covers.

The snow above will hold the moisture in allowing melted snow to infiltrate areas
between two pieces of wood.

Once shoveled, the porch and the entire balustrade should be swept clean. **Be sure
to get in-between the balusters with a broom** for this is the most important area.

My neighbor was very unhappy at the cost to replace her rounded porch balustrade.
Sadly the snow is now piled up against it. **Protect your historic investment with
just a little maintenance.**

Here are some snow pictures.

I swept the snow away after taking this photo. I was sad to see it go but didn’t
want the expense of additional repairs.

Mistake: rain barrels must be emptied and covered for the winter.

I shoveled a crooked snow path on my sidewalk to amuse myself.

Monkeyface likes the snow too!
